Alice Bendix Gottlieb, MD, PhD, a board-certified specialist in internal medicine, rheumatology, and dermatology, is the W.H. Conzen Chair in clinical pharmacology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ)-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick. She is the director of the Clinical Research Center at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, professor of medicine, and associate chair for research in the Department of Medicine.
Dr. Gottlieb received her medical degree from the Cornell University Medical College and a doctorate in philosophy in immunology from the Rockefeller University in New York. She completed medical and dermatologic residencies at the New York Hospital and a fellowship in rheumatic diseases at the Hospital for Special Surgery, both in New York City.
Widely published in such journals as The Lancet, The Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, The Journal of Cutaneous Medical Surgery, and Cutis, Dr. Gottlieb also serves on the editorial boards of The Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, The Journal of Cutaneous Medicine and Surgery, and The Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology. She is also the dermatology section editor for Clinical Immunology. Dr. Gottlieb is a journal reviewer for The New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, The Journal of Investigative Dermatology, The Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, and The Archives of Dermatology. Her work on biotechnological treatments for psoriasis was featured in The New York Times. She has also been featured in The Wall Street Journal, The San Francisco Chronicle, and Barron's.
Dr. Gottlieb is an active member of several professional societies, including the American Academy of Dermatology, Society of Investigative Dermatology, Noah Worcester Dermatology Society, American College of Rheumatology, American Academy of Pharmaceutical Physicians, National Eczema Association (NEA), National Psoriasis Foundation (NPF), Women's Dermatologic Society (member of the Board of Directors), and the Clinical Immunology Society. She is a member of the medical advisory board of the NPF and the psoriasis task force of the American Academy of Dermatology. She also serves on the Scientific Advisory Board of the NEA.
