| Dr. Metzger is full Clinical Professor of Medicine at UCLA School of Medicine, past Clinical Chief of Rheumatology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and is in the private practice of rheumatology and internal medicine in Beverly Hills, California. He received his medical degree, cum laude, from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver. His postgraduate education includes a straight medical internship and residency at the University of Chicago School of Medicine. Dr. Metzger went on to serve as clinical associate for the Phoenix Clinical Research Section, National Institute of Arthritis, Metabolic Disease and Digestive Disease, National Institutes of Health in Phoenix, Arizona. He then completed a fellowship in rheumatology at UCLA, entering practice in 1974. Dr. Metzger received the Humanitarian Award from the American Lupus Society in 1994. He is a fellow of the American College of Rheumatology and the American College of Physicians. He is a reviewer for several journals, including Arthritis and Rheumatism, the New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, and Archives of Internal Medicine. Dr. Metzger has published articles on topics such as appropriate laboratory testing in rheumatic disease, lupus erythematosus, scleroderma, polymyositis, the spondyloarthropathies, and lupus nephritis. He has lectured extensively on fibromyalgia, Cox –2 NSAIDs, osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and lupus erythematosus. |
