Amy Paller, MD, is a professor of dermatology and pediatrics and chief of the division of dermatology at the Children's Memorial Hospital of Northwestern University Medical School. She received her medical degree from Stanford University in 1978, and did residency training in pediatrics and then dermatology at Northwestern University. She did research fellowship training at the University of North Carolina (1983-84). Dr. Paller is the author of more than 200 publications.
Dr. Paller is active in many dermatologic organizations nationally and internationally. She serves on the board of directors of both the American Academy of Dermatology and the Society for Investigative Dermatology. She is secretary-treasurer of the Society for Pediatric Dermatology. She is chair of the Mentorship Awards Committee of the Women's Dermatologic Society, and is currently president of the Chicago Dermatologic Society. Dr. Paller is an NIH-funded researcher, primarily studying the role of gangliosides in keratinocyte function, and is an active clinical investigator as well. At this time, she is an assistant editor of The Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, and is on the editorial or advisory Boards of Cutis, Advances in Dermatology, Experimental Dermatology, Current Opinion in Dermatology, and Current Opinion in Women's Health. She is also on the national advisory boards for several lay organizations, among them the National Eczema Association for Science and Education and the National Psoriasis Foundation.
