Director, Breast Cancer Program, Cooper Hospital
D. LAWRENCE WICKERHAM, MD: I have found some of the written material, particularly books, a way that they can learn the entire spectrum of the breast disease problems and then focus on the particular stage or magnitude or stage of disease that they are having.

GENEROSA GRANA, MD: They may begin with the clinician that she is seeing and the resources that he offers her to the family members who have dealt with disease to other Internet-based sources of information, written sources of information, the cancer information services that are available through the National Cancer Institute. So there is a wealth of information available to women.

D. LAWRENCE WICKERHAM, MD: Going to the American Cancer Society or the National Cancer Institute through their various 800 numbers, is a way that they can get resources closer to home that's more personal.

Most people don't understand that just like the telephone information line, the 800 numbers have information as well. 800-555-1212, if you forget the American Cancer Society's 800 number or the National Cancer Institute.
