Dana H.C. Lee, JD is currently the Project Attorney at
the New York State Task Force on Life and the Law (Task Force). The Task
Force, a nonpartisan advisory commission, was created by executive order
in 1985 and has a mandate to develop public policy on issues arising from
medical advances, including the withholding and withdrawal of life-sustaining
treatment, assisted suicide and euthanasia, assisted reproductive technologies,
and organ and tissue transplantation. The Task Force members include leaders
in the fields of law, medicine, nursing, philosophy and bioethics, as well
as patient advocates and representatives of diverse religious communities.
The New York State Commissioner of Health serves as Chair of the Task Force.
Ms. Lee also serves as Secretary of the Committee on Bioethical
Issues of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. In addition,
as Adjunct Professor of Law from 1997 to 1999, Ms. Lee taught legal writing
to first-year law students at Brooklyn Law School. Before joining the Task
Force, Ms. Lee practiced law as a commercial litigator for over 6 years
in private law firms in New York City.
Ms. Lee received her law degree from New York University
School of Law, where she was a Note and Comment Editor on the New York
University Law Review. She graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor
of Science degree in industrial and labor relations.
