| Dr. Bazil received his undergraduate degree in Chemistry and Applied Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He then completed the MD/PhD program at Emory University, with a doctorate in pharmacology. He completed a neurology residency at New York University, and specialty training in epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology at The Neurological Institute of Columbia University. He has been on the faculty as an Assistant Professor of Neurology at the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University since 1996. He is the Director of Clinical Anticonvulsant Drug Trials at the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, and speaks extensively on the medical treatment of epilepsy. His research includes the study of new epilepsy medications, the outcome after epilepsy surgery, and the effects of epilepsy on sleep patterns and melatonin.
