Dr. Daniel Haller has been on the faculty at the University of Pennsylvania
School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, since 1980. He also serves
as Associate Chief for Clinical Affairs in the Division of Hematology-Oncology
and as co-program leader of the Clinical Oncology Research Program of the
University of Pennsylvania Cancer Center. He was recently awarded the John
H. Glick Teaching Award in Oncology (1998).
A member of the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group since 1980 and Principal
Investigator since of the Penn grant1997, Dr Haller has served as Chair
of the Gastrointestinal Committee, and currently serves on the Nominating
Committee. Dr Haller is also a member of the American Association for Cancer
Research, the American Radium Society, and the American Society of Clinical
Oncology, where he serves on the Program Committee and is chair of the
Audit and Finance Committee. He is a fellow of the American College of
Physicians.
Dr Haller is an associate editor for the Annals of Internal Medicine
and the editor-in-chief of PDQ: The National Cancer Institute’s Computerized
Database for Physicians. He also serves on the editorial board of the
Journal of Clinical Oncology. Recent and upcoming publications include
management guidelines for esophageal cancer in Radiation Medicine
and two analyses of the results of the Patterns of Care Study, to be published
in the Journal of Clinical Oncology and the Cancer Journal of
Scientific American.
Dr Haller received his medical degree (cum laude) from the University
of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He completed an internship and
residency in medicine and a fellowship in medical oncology at Georgetown
University Hospital in Washington, District of Columbia.
