Dr. Alexander Mauskop is a board certified Neurologist
and Pain Specialist who is the director of the New York Headache Center
in New York City.
Dr. Mauskop is a licensed acupuncturist and the author
of a book, The Headache Alternative: A Neurologist's Guide to Drug-Free
Relief, published by Dell. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology
and Past President of the Eastern Pain Association. Dr. Mauskop has conducted
and published important studies on the role of magnesium deficiency in
migraines and other headaches. He has been conducting reasearch into various
new treatments for headaches and pain. He was listed in the New York magazine's
Best Doctors in New York as well as in the book How to Find the Best Doctors
in New York Metro Area. Dr. Mauskop has appeared on national and local
news programs featuring new treatments for headaches.
Dr. Mauskop was born in the former Soviet Union, where
he received his MD degree. After arriving in the US in 1979, he completed
a one-year internal medicine and a three-year neurology residency at the
State University of New York (Downstate), followed by a two-year fellowship
in pain management at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
