Annemarie Colbin, a Certified Health Education Specialist, consultant, and lecturer, is the author of Food and Healing (Ballantine: 1996), Food and Our Bones: The Natural Way to Prevent Osteoporosis (Dutton:1998) and other books. She is the founder of The Natural Gourmet Cookery School / Institute for Food and Health in New York City, which offers career programs and public classes in natural foods and health-supportive cooking. Ms. Colbin was the recipient of the 1987 Pacesetter Award in Education from the Roundtable for Women in Foodservice and the 1993 Avon Women of Enterprise Awards. She has led workshops all over the country, in such well-known institutions as the Omega Institute, The New York Open Center, and Interface, as well as in many smaller regional organizations.
Ms. Colbin is frequently featured in print articles, and has appeared on many radio and TV programs including "Donahue," "Geraldo," "Attitudes," "Good Day New York," and "Regis and Kathie Lee." Corporations such as Shearson Lehman, the American Management Association, American Express, Solomon Brothers, Time Inc., and MTV have repeatedly offered Ms. Colbin's lunchtime workshops on wellness and food to their employees. Ms Colbin also does private wellness consultations, and is generally recognized as an expert in the uses of food for health.
Ms. Colbin is the 1999 president of the NY Metro chapter of the Roundtable for Women in Foodservice, and is on the board of the Food and Nutrition Council of Greater New York. Her website is www.foodandhealing.com.
