Dr. David Marks is an award-winning health reporter who began working at WNBC in March 2001. He regularly appears on "Today in New York," but his reports have been featured on all Newschannel 4 broadcasts.
In addition to reporting on daily health news, Dr. Marks specializes in medical investigative reporting. Prior to joining WNBC, Dr. Marks was a reporter for four years at its sister station, WVIT (NBC 30), in Hartford. In 2000, the Connecticut chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists honored Dr. Marks with its "Excellence in Journalism" award for the best "in-depth" television news story of the year for his report, "Health for Sale," which exposed the ways that pharmaceutical companies try to bribe doctors to prescribe their drugs.
His first book, "The Headache Prevention Cookbook: Eating Right to Prevent Migraines and Other Headaches,"(Houghton Mifflin) was published in July 2000. His second book, "Raising Stable Kids in an Unstable World: A Physician's Guide to Dealing with Childhood Stress," (HCI) will be published in March 2002. He also writes for the Chicago Tribune.
Dr. Marks practiced medicine for more than ten years, most recently as medical director of the world-renowned New England Center for Headache in Stamford. He has had more than a dozen scientific articles published in medical journals.
Dr. Marks received his medical degree from the Yale University School of Medicine, and received a Master of Public Administration degree from New York University. He became board certified in internal medicine after serving as an intern, resident and Chief Resident at Greenwich Hospital. He then served as a Fellow in Allergy and Clinical Immunology at Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
